SIGN UP TO SERVE AT WORSHIP
Now is the time to sign up to serve at worship for September, October, and November. Sign up sheets are posted on the Kiosk.
Each Sunday there are a host of roles that need to be filled to provide for worship at Gloria Dei. These include Greeters, Acolytes, Ushers, Lectors, Liturgy Assistants, Nursery, and Altar Guild. Any member can assist with these important tasks. New members and members who have not served before or for a while are encourage to sign up.
If you have questions about any of these opportunities to serve, simply call the church office or talk with one of our pastors.
JOIN THE OLD GOATS!
OLD GOATS - Our Laypeople Doing GloriaDei's Organizational And Technical Services - is a long standing tradition at Gloria Dei. Members individually or in groups offers time and talents to do things that otherwise we would hire someone to do. "Old" has nothing to do with age. And our "goats" simply offer to do what needs to be done around the church. That might include organizing, fixing, building, designing, installing, or just providing some elbow grease to a project. Contact Marlene in the church office for a list of projects . . . or propose your own project if you see something that you think would improve our church facilities or ministries.
HELP FURNISH FOX VALLEY LUTHERAN HOMES
Linwood Commons at Fox Valley Lutheran Homes has just completed a new addition to its facilities. Consider a financial gift to help furnish the common area, meeting rooms, and chapel. Please mark FVLH on your check. For more information about FVLH contact Pastor Tabitha.
SHARE YOUR MUSIC GIFTS THIS SUMMER
Our choirs take the summer off, so we look to our members to share their musical gifts as solists, instumentalists, and in ensembles for our 9:00 AM worship during June, July, and August. Please contact Myron Jones or simply sign up on the Kiosk.
HELP WITH THE CHURCH GROUNDS THIS SUMMER
At Gloria Dei we do not have a grounds staff or a contract service. We invite members to plant and maintain our flower beds, trim or bushes and trees, and mow our lawn. Please consider joining our "grounds crew" this year. For more information, contact Grant Wilson (Property Ministry) at 716-1802 or check the Kiosk.
For the rest of the summer and fall, we particular need help with trimming and edging . . . about once a month. Sign up on the Kiosk.
CHURCH PROJECT LIST. A GREAT WAY TO HELP OUT
Our Property Ministry keeps a "honey do" list of projects needed inside and outside the church. Please contact the church office or Grant Wilson (Property Ministry chairperson). Our project list includes small and not-so-small items and items for individuals, couples, and families.
Check Time and Talents page for a complete and updated list or simply call or stop by the church office.
SCRIP NEWS: 2010 SCHEDULE
SCRIP schedule for next few months will be . . .
August 8 and 22
We will be at the table in the fellowship area approximately 20 minutes before and after each service. If you cannot pick up your order, please call Brian and Darlene Engstrom to make arrangements. We no longer keep SCRIP at the church.
If you have not tried SCRIP, make it a new year's resolution. Purchase SCRIP "gift cards" for most of the places you shop or do business . . . and Gloria Dei receives a percentage of the purchase to support mission and ministry here and in the community.
In 2009, members of our congregation placed 579 orders for a total of $128,835 . . . and $6,866 for ministries at Gloria Dei.
Last quarter's proceeds to the church from SCRIP were $1,132 divided between local hunger, evangelism and fellowsip, youth programs, and debt retirement.
Contact Bryan or Darlene Engstrom for more information or questions about your SCRIP orders at bengstrom(a)new.rr.com or 722-7582.

HEPHATHA YOUTH VISITS GLORIA DEI
CRYSTAL RIVER CANOE OUTING
AUGUST 14
Youth and adult leaders from our sister congregation in Milwaukee will be visiting us the second weekend in August. On Saturday (August 14), we have planned a canoe trip on the Crystal River near Waupaca. All Gloria Dei youth (and adults) are invited to participate. We will gather at noon at the church and return early evening for a potluck at the church. Cost is $16 per person and can be paid on the day of the outing. Dress should be swim suits or shorts and tee shirt and shoes that can get wet! Let Pastor Jon know that you plan to join the fun on August 14.
We also will need host families for our guests from Hephatha. Hosts are invited for the meal on Saturday evening and will bring their guest(s) for worship on Sunday morning. The Hephatha group leaves for Milwaukee after worship. Let Pastor Jon or Steve Graf know if you can host one or more of our guests.
And one more thing . . . We learned last year that it works best if we provide the transportation for the Hephatha group to and from Milwaukee. We need a couple of members willing to drive to Milwaukee on Saturday morning and a couple on Sunday after worship for the return trip. Contact Steve Graf.

Help Welcome New Neighbors
to Gloria Dei
Welcome a new neighbor and invite them to worship at Gloria Dei. There are “New Neighbor Packets” available for you to drop off at a new neighbor’s home. The packets are located on the table outside of the church office in a lime green bag. Just pick one up and take it along with a copy of the current DeiLites – or if you would like someone from the EFM Visitors Team to drop it off, contact Marlene in the church office with their name and address and we’ll make sure it’s delivered.
Members and Visitors with Special Needs
A reminder that we have aids for those people with hearing impairment, please ask an usher for assistance.
You will also notice that there are some arm chairs in the last row of the sanctuary for those persons who find it easier to get up and down from a chair rather than the pews Please feel free to use them. For those who use a wheelchair feel free to be seated at the end of any of the pews.
SIMPLE WAYS YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
We Care Program -
Gloria Dei is registered at Pick 'n Save in Neenah for their We Care Program. This means that on each dollar you spend at Pick 'N Save, 1% will be donated back to the church. All you need to do is register at the service desk and ask for Gloria Dei's code number to be put on your form. You will receive a tag and card to be used each time you check out. If you already have your tag for identification purposes, but haven't designated somewhere for your donations to go, or would like to change your designation, just check in at the service desk. Gloria Dei's code number is 280300 and every time you use your key card 1% is credited to Gloria Dei. Last year we received about $500 back on this program.
Box Tops for Education
We are collecting the General Mills Box Tops for Education that are on General Mills products. These box tops are then donated to a local school to help purchase extra items for that school. There is an ice cream pail on the food collection shelf in the narthex near the mailboxes if you'd like to bring your box tops to donate.
Morton Pharmacy Rebates
If you shop at Morton Pharmacy you can enroll in the Morton Members customer appreciation program. Indicate Gloria Dei as your designated local charitable organization and Morton Pharmacy will make a cash donation to Gloria Dei based upon your purchases. This does not include prescription drugs. Stop in at Morton's and see how easy it is to become a Morton Member.
Used Ink Cartridges
Bring your used ink cartridges to church and help the church save on office supplies. Used cartridges are exchanged for credit to purchase new ink for our computer printers. We saved $884 in 2009 with these donations. This is great stewardship to the church and the environment
