Drop Off Fresh Produce Begins
Gloria Dei members and our neighbors and community members are encouraged to begin sharing some of their harvest.
Drop off fresh produce on Sundays in the narthex and on other days in the box at the South entrance to the church.
Produce is taken to St. Joe's Food Bank on Mondays and Thursdays.

Together We Grow & Together We Share
What can you do with a handful of seeds?
1. You can receive them. They are a gift to you from all ministries of your church: worship, evangelism, education, property, youth, fellowship, church & community. (A special thanks to Olds Seed Company & Walters Seed Company for the gift of seeds & to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for supporting this project.)
2. Use them. Plant them in your yard, raise them, care for them. If not, consider adopting someone to use them for you and teach and guide them. Or, if space is needed, consider reserving a section in the new garden plot on the church grounds. Check out our separate web page for "Gardening Hints" each week.
3. Share them ~ share the bounty. With your family, with your friends and neighbors, with strangers. Drop off at church to share with other GD members, or to exchange produce. Items brought to church this summer will also be distributed to those in need in the neighborhood and to our local food pantries. Deliveries to the food pantry will be made on Mondays and Thursdays during the growing season.
4. Learn about them. Stay after worship on June 13, July 11, and August 6 for special Sunday School session for children and adults with thems connected to Seeds and Harvest.
5. Celebrate them. Give thanks to God for the seeds which have been planted in your lives…of faith, of family & relationships, of food and bounty. Celebrate & have fun with everyone at a Community Picnic & corn roast on Rally Day, September 12. Celebrate the culmination of growing season with a Harvest Worship service and potluck dinner, on October 10.
On behalf of all Gloria Dei ministries, Please use your gift freely! And Watch It GROW!!
Seeds are still available
Please take seeds to plant and/or share with family, friends. Seed packages have been donated to Gloria Dei by Olds Seed Company. Thrivent Financial also supports some of the expenses of Seeds and Harvest.
Check out "Gardening Hints" for tips and inspiration as you garden . . . or simply watch our church garden grow this summer.
Seeds Shared in the Neighborhood
Thanks to our members who walked our immediate neighborhood to share seeds and invite our neighbors to particiate in our initiative.
Rain Barrels Constructed at Pine Lake
Fourteen rain barrels were constructed on June 15 at Pine Lake Camp. More than 25 confirmation youth from 8 congregations participated in the project. They learned about water conservation, ecological changes in our environment, and connections between God's gift of the earth and our care for it.
Summer Sunday School
Special Summer Sunday School . . . for all ages . . . began on June 13. Flower pots were decorated and herb seeds planted . . . and most importantly, we learned more about God's gift of creation. Please plan to attend the next session on July 11.
