Community Table

Fox Valley Community Table (FVCC) is Neenah-Menasha's "soup kitchen" to feed the hungry in our community.  Meals are served during the noon hour on Tuesday and Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Commerical Street in Neenah (next to the YMCA).  Recently, these meals have served more than 100 persons each day.

Gloria Dei has made a commitment to prepare and serve the meal one Saturday of each month.  Shepherd Groups and other groups in our congregation take turns providing this ministry.  Group leaders plan the menu and then enlist members to prepare the food.  Food itypically is prepared in advance and then warmed and dished in the kitchen at St. Paul.  FVCC has a "pantry" at St. Paul with donated non-perishable food items (e.g., salad dressings and condiments) .  St. Paul provides dishes and utensils.

Group members arrive by 10:30 AM to set up. (A Community Table Board Member opens the facility at 10 AM).   The meal is served beginning at 11:30 AM.  Clean up is usually completed by 1:30 PM.

Hope Moede is the Gloria Dei coordinator for Community Table.  Ken Uslabar is a member of the FVCC Board of Directors.  If you have questions about Community Table or would like to get more involved in this ministry, contact either Hope or Ken.  For a list of Shepherd Group members, just "click."

Here's some more about Fox Valley Community Table . . .

The group's mission statement is . . . "The Fox Valley Community Table is a Christian Ministry that recognizes that there are many individuals and families who live at or below the poverty level.  The majority of these economically disadvantaged persons do not receive proper nutrition on a regular basis.  Therefore, it is our mission to provide well-balanced meals in a caring and supportive Christian atmosphere, which shows concern for the whole person."

FVCC is governed and administered by a 10 person board of directors and a part-time Site Coordinator.

Areas congregations serving FVCC include Congregational United Church of Christ, First United Methodist Church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Gabriel Catholic Church, St. Mark Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and Whiting Community Baptist Church.  Area companies that sponsor  volunteer groups and regularly donate food items and supplies include ALCAN, Binding Edge, and Plexus Corporation.  Schools include Shattuck Middle School, Neenah-Menasha Alternative School, and St. Mary Central High School.  The Fox Valley Emergency Society is a contributor also to Fox Valley Community Table.

Donations to FVCC can include napkins and paper towels, paper plates and bowls, dishwashing liquid and soap, bleach and anti-bacterial hand sanitizer, garbage bags (30-33 and 55-60 gallon), canned fruit and vegetables, canned fruit juice.

FVCC also needs financial contributions to cover the expenses of the site coordinator, insurance, and supplies no donated.   These contributions can be tax-deductible.

You can contact FVCC by calling Diana Vieth (Site Coordinator) at 920-205-3220 or by mail at P.O. Box 581, Menasha, WI  54952.
