Gloria Dei Music

Overview
We are very fortunate that from it’s beginning Gloria Dei has held music in the highest regard.  We are a church that appreciates all types of music – traditional, gospel, jazz/blues and modern – using liturgies and choral music from many parts of the world – African, Hispanic, German, Danish, etc.

Many talented musicians from the Fox Valley (especially from Neenah High School, across Tullar Road from the church) provide many exciting experiences for our congregation of faith.

Gloria Dei offers a variety of choices for group music participation.  From the younger group of Sunday School youth (The Sunday School singers), the Middle School aged Junior Choir, to the Adult  BTA (Better than Average) choir, we are proud of our offerings to God in music.

Youth Music Program
Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord! That is what we believe the children should have a chance to do during our worship services. We at Gloria Dei have two choirs for kids of all ages to participate in. There is a Junior Choir for students in 5th through 10th grade and a Sunday School choir for children age three through 5th grade. Currently both choirs are under the direction of Jill Kruger. The Junior Choir meets on Wednesday evenings before Confirmation, 5:30-6:00 PM throughout the school year and rehearse in the sanctuary. The choir sings approximately one time a month, usually at the 10:30 service, but they will occasionally at the 8:00 worship time. The past few years, members of the Junior Choir have also put on a musical sermon sometime during the spring. The Sunday School Singers meet every Sunday morning during the school year from 9:10 to 9:30. They all meet in the Sunday School music room to start their Sunday School experience for the day. During this time students are greeted by the choir director and rehearse a few songs before they go to Sunday School class at 9:30. We encourage all children from preschool through 5th grade to come together in song before being dismissed for class. The Sunday School Singers usually sing once a month. Gloria Dei has a tradition of holding a Christmas program every holiday season. All Sunday School children are encouraged to be a part of this wonderful musical tradition. This year's program is scheduled for December 16 at the 10:30 service. Extra rehearsals start in November for the older children with extra singing/dancing or speaking parts. The two youth choirs also have the opportunity to sing jointly with the adult, BTA (Better Than Average) choir at our special musical service held in May.
